The Database design and implantation module taught me how databases are set up and how they can be managed. I was using the Oracle database which included SQL* Plus which meant that I could produce more intelligent queries. I learnt how databases are modelled of mathematical theory’s which referred to set theory. The fundamentals of SQL are necessary as it is important to understand the different keys and joins which can select the relevant data.

I also learnt how to manage the database and what the DB administrator will have to do keep the performance optimum. Indexing and clusters can help keep the database running smoothly as this insures that the data can be accessed in Realtime if there is a large set of data that the query has to look through.
